Used for informal gatherings.It looks cheap and has defects! Seller wants consumer to pay for returns postage to china which costs 200-300 dollars.Very pretty bamboo flatware. It pairs well with both earthy stoneware and china.The real bamboo handles give it a unique statement look, and elevates tablescapes for special occasions.The size and texture of the handles feel good in the hands and nice to use as well.While the flatware doesn’t feel too heavy, as a lot of special occasion flatware tends to, some of that might be because bamboo is a lightweight wood. However, the metal itself isn’t super thick. It’s substantial enough to be nice, but I personally wouldn’t use this as my everyday set or put it through rigorous use - especially since the bamboo requires more care than regular stainless steel and should be hand washed.The flatware was packaged really well, and I liked how the sleeves are reusable for storage. Repacking in the sleeves and storing in the case will ensure longevity.I do think that for the price, the case could have been improved upon. The lining was padded sufficiently to offer protection but the shiny yellow “gold” case looked gaudy and cheap. A classier neutral/earthy color paired with brass hardware would have been more appropriate, given the bamboo set. Even simple (non-shiny) black or cream would be fine. The case did not match the flatware at all, and was a little shocking to receive. For a second, I wondered what I could have possibly ordered from Amazon and thought they must have sent me something by mistake, only to discover the nice flatware inside to my relief. I feel like I will need to keep the shiny case of flatware stored inside the cardboard box it came in - or perhaps find an alternative case - because I don’t actually want to see this case every time I open up my tableware cabinet..Look nice, but these are not for everyday. More so novelty/special occasion service. Very lightweight, and the salad forks are almost comically small. Comes in an almost gaudy gold, velvet lined case. Slight color variation. Must wash by hand.Likes: 1. Great for special occasions, not everyday you see natural bamboo handles on flatware. 2. Great house warming gift for new home owner who might not have flatware. 3. The flatware is light in weight. 4. The case is beautiful golden color, so hopefully it will bring luck to someone as a gift.Dislikes: 1. The price is a little expensive. 2. The bamboo has protective coating that is most likely not from a natural source.I gave 3 stars for these reasons and in my opinion I just find this set average.The only con I see about this flatware set is hand washing but bamboo would not do well in a dishwasher. So if you don’t mind hand washing then this is a beautiful set. I was surprised that it came in a storage box which is nice but I hate to say it a really tacky gold shiny storage box, does not go with the look of bamboo. The set looks very pretty and it is lightweight. Love that it has a tropical beachy look. Since it is real bamboo the pieces are not identical but they have done a good job of getting them close. With a 6 place set it is a decent price. The salad fork is a little strange, small times that remind me of a pickle fork. So to me this is a good set at a decent price!What I like: beachy vibe, sturdy yet light weight, nice case. What I don’t like: price, too expensive. The salad forks are odd. They work, but they are weird. Overall, the set is just okay. At a price point of $149 I expect to be wowed.I was hesitant to order these and didn’t really know what to expect as far as whether they would hold up in water being washed etc and I’m happy to report not only are they gorgeous to begin with, mine have held up perfectly - I don’t put them in the dishwasher and can’t speak to that but they survive being soaked in water for almost an entire day frequently - from when my husband gets up to make a late night snack and then leave his dishes in the sink for me to wash with dinner the next night ?
